Python Coding & Game Design

Who is this course for?

Students in grades 6–9 who love playing games and want to understand how they’re made, or who want a solid start in programming. Python is the most beginner-friendly language — and it’s also used at NASA, Google, and across the AI industry.

What will your child learn?

  • Python fundamentals: variables, loops, conditions, functions
  • Problem-solving mindset: breaking big problems into small steps
  • Building 2D games with a graphics library: snake, dodge games, quizzes
  • Reading and fixing bugs — the most important skill a programmer has

The 12-session journey

  1. Sessions 1–3: First lines of code — a quiz program and a calculator
  2. Sessions 4–7: Graphics and motion: drawing shapes, moving characters with the keyboard
  3. Sessions 8–10: Personal game project: your child picks an idea and builds it from scratch
  4. Sessions 11–12: Final polish and Game Launch Day — the class plays each other’s games

What does your child take home?

A complete game they wrote themselves to share with friends, and a solid Python foundation for AI or data science later on.
